Discovery Communications Chief Executive David Zaslav said the U.S. advertising market strengthening and suggested the trend could hold in 2011. "The U.S. advertising market is extremely strong. It's
stronger than it was a month ago," Zaslav said during an investor conference in Barcelona, Spain. "Assuming things continue the way they are right now, we're going to have a very good (2011)."
Automakers and financial firms are seeking commercials, pushing up the price for last minute buys as inventory becomes scarce, he added. Internationally, he said advertising remains "as strong
or stronger," but there is less visibility. The media company saw a 16% rise in third-quarter advertising revenue and a 23% increase in international advertising revenue.
