ESPN Debuts ScoreCenter On Net-Enabled TVs

It was only a matter of time before ESPN ramped up operations on Internet-enabled TVs. As new technology emerges, ESPN wants content ready to flow before the first item leaves a Best Buy.
The company said it is debuting its ScoreCenter product on Internet-hooked-up sets from Samsung. It can be added via the Samsung Apps store.
ScoreCenter allows fans to view a running line of updated scores of other games -- in multiple sports -- while bringing up stats from players, a would-be popular feature with fantasy sports aficionados. The score lines can come on the top, bottom or side of the screen.
ScoreCenter is available on iPhones and iPads. Users can customize it for specific teams.
"Bringing the ScoreCenter application from mobile devices to televisions shows how good content and utility can start on any screen," stated Sean Bratches, executive vice president, sales and marketing at ESPN. This is Samsung's second effort with the network.
Last month, the company launched ESPN on Xbox LIVE, delivering interactive experiences with live events from ESPN3.com, ESPN.com video-on-demand clips, as well as sports highlights. Xbox LIVE members can access the service via Xbox LIVE software update.
ESPN has six 24-hour domestic television networks and ESPN 3D.
