Nissan Plans 'Sunny' Debut For New Global Car

  • December 21, 2010
Nissan has revealed its next sedan based on a global platform, meaning the car will be in Nissan showrooms worldwide -- albeit with different nameplates. The automaker showed the car at the 8th China International Automobile Exhibition in Guangzhou this week. The car goes on sale first in China in January as "Sunny" before staggered introductions in 170 countries worldwide under different vehicle brand names.

The automaker says the Nissan Sunny was first introduced in China in 2003 as the first locally built model from the new Dongfeng Nissan partnership. Nissan says it is targeting young families in their 30s looking for a medium-sized sedan.
