The Primetime Emmy Awards won't go to cable after all. After a threat by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences to move its annual awards ceremony to HBO, the Emmys will stay on the networks after all. The academy struck a $52 million deal with ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX to rotate annual broadcasts of the awards show for the next eight years. HBO had offered $50 million for a five-year deal. A previous four-year deal was for $12 million over four years.
