Just two weeks after announcing that George Hirsch was stepping down as publishing director of the U.S. edition of La Cucina Italiana magazine, publishing vet Gregory Slattery has been named publisher.

Slattery, joins La Cucina from Bauer Media Group, where he was a vice president and publisher of magazines including First for Women, Woman's World, Soap's in Depth and ID Magazine, as well as their Web publishing properties.

Earlier this month, Hirsch, whose five-decade history as a magazine publisher included helping to found New York magazine, announced plans to retire and step down as chairman and publisher of La Cucina.
