Ellis to Leave Emmis' New York Stations
Oct 25, 2002, 12:00 AM
Judy Ellis, one of the best known radio general managers who has forged ties to the advertising community during her 17-year tenure, will leave the radio cluster she has managed since 1986 early next year. Ellis has notified Emmis Communications she will not seek to renew her contract beyond its February 28, 2003 expiration date. Ellis has overseen Emmis’ WQHT, New York (Hot 97.1) since Emmis bought the station in August 1986 and through the consolidation explosion of the late 1990’s. Through the years she added oversight of Emmis’ other stations, including WRKS (Kiss 98.7) and smooth jazz WQCD.
