GOP-House Votes To End NPR Funding

The GOP-led House voted Thursday to end taxpayer funding for National Public Radio -- and to bar local public radio stations from using federal funds to pay for NPR, reports USA Today. The measure is unlikely to pass the Democratic-controlled Senate. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., called NPR and its journalists "valuable resources to people of all ages across the country." The Obama administration said it "strongly opposes" the bill.
