BBDO, Saatchi, Burnett Win Big Time In Effies

It's that time of year when Effie awards are being scattered about like cherry blossoms on a breezy May afternoon. BBDO, Saatchi & Saatchi, Leo Burnett are the big winners. All told, BBDO Worldwide will get 12 statues at the 2011 North American Effie Awards. The agency gets honors as the most effective agency network for the second year in a row.  Saatchi & Saatchi gets nine wins and Leo Burnett gets eight.

Winning brands are Old Spice, Snickers and Toyota. Honorees will be feted at a 43rd annual North American Effie Awards event on June 7 at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York.

Among winners for BBDO include the agency's New York office, BBDO Minneapolis and Proximity, Energy BBDO, Juniper Park and Organic.  A Global Effie Award will be presented to Ogilvy & Mather USA and Mindshare/Neo, USA for IBM Corporation's SmarterCities Program.  

The holding companies with the most wins are Omnicom with 26 and Publicis with 23.   Old Spice won the most North American Effies of any brand in the competition (4), while Snickers won three North American Effie trophies, in addition to one Global Effie Award.  Toyota, U by Kotex, and Walgreens will take home 3 Effies each.

On the media side of the business Digitas won two Media Idea Effies on behalf of American Express and Kraft. Fallon also gets one for its work on behalf of Syfy, and TVLAND gets one for "Hot in Cleveland." Goodby, Silverstein and Partners and OMD for Frito-Lay¹s Doritos, Saatchi & Saatchi LA for Toyota and Wieden+Kennedy for the Old Spice "The Man Your Man Could Smell Like" Responds to the Internet are all award winners for media work.  Starcom USA/LiquidThread won an Effie in the Single Media Company Activation category for Bank of America's "History Channel America: The Story of Us Partnership."
