Whole Foods Focuses On Fair-Trade Mangos For Haiti

In a bid to help the struggling farmers in Haiti, Whole Foods Markets says it is offering Fair Trade Certified Francis mangos for a limited time. "Whole Foods Market is the sole buyer of certified organic and Fair Trade Certified mangos from small Haitian growers," the Austin, Tex.-based chain says in its announcement, "sometimes buying from a family with just one tree." Francis mangos have a richly flavored flesh and sweet, aromatic scent, it says, and are available for about six weeks each year.
