Network Associates Buys Spam Fighter

Computer security provider Network Associates is on a mission to clean up computers and email inboxes everywhere. On the wings of its acquisition of the 25% of McAfee it didn't already own, Network Associates Inc. yesterday bought privately held makers of email filtering software Deersoft Inc. for an undisclosed sum. The company plans to have Deersoft's technology integrated into McAfee's consumer products starting in the second quarter of 2003 and business products in the second half of the year. The acquisition is "the first in a series of investments McAfee is making into anti-spam and content filtering technology," McAfee President Art Matin said in a statement.
