Interpublic's Geomentum Reorganizes, Taps Omnicom's Curry As Chief Digital Officer
Curry joins Geomentum from Omnicom Media Group where he was founder and managing director of agency trading desk Accuen Media. Bradner had been president of Geomentum's Solutions unit.
In a related move, Emily Olson-Torch was named director of client services, reporting to Bradner. She joins the agency from online shoe retailer Zappos, where she was brand manager.
The moves are part of Finnegan's strategy to accelerate Geomentum's expansion into "all things digital."
"I effectively spent my first 90-days understanding the gigantic assets here," he said referring to Geomentum's organization, which was built on the back of Interpublic's humongous traditional local media units in newspaper, Yellow Pages and directories.
Finnegan said Geomentum has already begun working on deals with pure-play hyper-local digital operators such as Google, Facebook, Patch and GroupOn, but is also working to leverage its relationships with newspapers, directories and TV outlets to create better, digitally integrated local media campaigns, such as digital newspaper pre-prints and FSIs, and hyper-local TV buys capable of targeting adds down to neighborhood levels.
Even as it acts hyper-local, Finnegan said Geomentum is beginning to think global.
"Our future lies in the expansion into new categories - new media and also geographic areas," he said, noting that many of Geomentum's clients are international, and that Geomentum already is beginning to expand its hyper-local media and marketing practices into Western Europe and parts of Asia, especially Hong Kong and Australia.
