'Cab' Driver Hosts New NBC Show

Ben-Bailey

NBC said Ben Bailey, who asks the questions while driving on Discovery Channel's "Cash Cab," will host a new game show on the network based on an Israeli show. "Who's Still Standing?" will offer a prize of up to $1 million in a trivia face-off.

NBC said the show will include an element of "physical comedy," where contestants are dropped through "trap doors if they answer a question incorrectly."

Each game starts with a principal competitor and 10 additional contestants. The main player selects one of the 10 for a battle, and each person who answers incorrectly is dropped down as the game goes on until only one is left standing.

The show is partly produced by NBC sister studio Universal Media Studios.

"Cash Cab" has been a stalwart on Discovery since 2005, with over 200 episodes. In the show, Bailey, a comedian, picks up unsuspecting passengers in a yellow cab and asks them questions that become progressively more difficult, starting with the chance to earn $25 for a correct answer and then increasing to $100.

"Ben is clever, entertaining and a huge authority in the trivia world," said Paul Telegdy, who oversees alternative programming at NBC and the Universal studio. He added that part of the show's appeal is a play-at-home element.

Bailey also hosts a Discovery spinoff: "Cash Cab: After Dark."
