Americans'confidence in newspaper and TV news -- stuck at record lows since 2007 -- rebounded slightly this year, according to a Gallup poll. "While the improvement for each is small in absolute
terms" -- it actually amounts to a raise of 1 to 3 percentage points -- "it could mark the beginning of the reversal of the trend seen in recent years," according to Gallup Daily blog.
In 1993,
almost half of Americans -- 46% -- expressed a "great deal" of confidence in television news; the percentage now is 27%. Top percentage for confidence in newspaper news was 39%, back in 1991; 20
years later, it's just 28%.
