American Airlines Sweeps Touts Five-Star Service

American Airlines is expanding its "five-star" vacation service for ordinary folks who want to travel like celebrities and VIPs (paparazzi not included).
The personal one-on-one airport assistance program, which pampers ticket holders from curbside to boarding, will now be offered in 14 airports worldwide (expanded from 11 airports previously). To promote the service, the Fort Worth, Texas-based airline is holding a sweepstakes.
Through Sept. 30, consumers can register at www.aa.com/fivestarpromo for the chance to win a Five Star Vacation Package that includes enough AAdvantage miles for two round-trip First Class flight awards to one of the 14 airports where American offers Five Star Service; Five Star Service for two at the airport; and a $5,000 gift card to be applied toward a five night stay at a five-star hotel, dinner at a five-star restaurant and private car service to and from the airport.
Customers who book a Five Star Service reservation or enter their information again at www.aa.com/fivestarservice before Sept. 30 will receive a second entry for a chance to win.
Designed to make traveling convenient and hassle-free, American's Five Star representatives work at the customer's request to take care of the details and make travel more enjoyable.
Five Star Service includes access to American's Admirals Club lounge. Personal representatives will also coordinate with a customer's car service, meet customers at curbside or arrival gate, assist at check-in and with baggage, expedite customers through security, provide access to the Admirals Club lounge and escort customers to the gate and assist with pre-boarding.
The representative also proactively monitors flights and, in case of delays, coordinates re-accommodation, escorts the passenger through Customs and Immigration for international flights, escorts the passenger to baggage claim and assists with baggage.
Previously, the service was not advertised and was only available for those "in the know." The airline initially set up the service for movie studio VIPs, but in 2008, started seeking out non-stars who wanted to pay for the extra attention.
Reservations for Five Star Service can be made by calling 877-5STAR-02 (578-2702). Representatives are available daily between 5 a.m. and midnight Central Time. The meet-and-greet service is available to customers over the age of 18 who wish to purchase Five Star Service. Children under the age of 18 are welcome to accompany a paying Five Star adult.
Five Star Service, which includes the access to the Admirals Club lounge, costs $125 per person, $200 for two people, and $125 for each additional person. International rates are $200 for one to two people, with $125 per each additional person. Special pricing is available for larger groups. Immediate family members under the age of 18 may accompany the paying Five Star adult at no additional charge.
