The First Thing You Bought, Er Donated, Via Mobile

Mobile Insider Summit moderator Michael Foschetti of Rapp asked his panel to start off with the obligatory biographical intros, but also asked if they could share the first thing they purchased via mobile, or if their memories weren't that good, the most recent thing they bought.

Most of the panelists had a hard time recalling their first purchase, but a couple cited their most recent. Expedia Director of Performance Media John Brewer noted that he booked his hotel and flight to the summit via a mobile app, and that he also downloaded "quite a bit of content" for his iPad.

Arc Worldwide Manager of Digital Strategy Nick Fotis said that he purchased a set of headphones as he was heading onto a plane.

Ubermind CEO Shehryar Khan said his first mobile purchase was an app create by Ubermind, which he bought to make sure it worked.

But the topper went to Correy Honza, Director of eCommerce, jewelry marketer Shane Co., who said his first mobile purchase wasn't a purchase at all, but a contribution.

"I think I donated money," he said, turning to his fellow panelists and adding, "not to be that, 'I'm like better than everybody else up here.' It was such a great charity that I don't remember what it was."

What Honza did remember buying via mobile commerce recently was a holder for his iPhone.
