Baidu Launches Mobile Platform Based On Android

Chinese search engine Baidu on Friday launched a mobile platform named Baidu Yi to compete with Alibaba Group and others. The platform based on Google's Android operating system will allow developers to build applications and sell them through its Web site similar to Google's Marketplace and Apple's iTunes App Store. Opening Baidu's site in Google Chrome allows users to translate the Chinese text in the browser window.
