Get Your Game On: ALDO Shoes Sponsors Contest With 'A Lot of Sole'
ALDO Shoes launched a trio of online games to complement its offline fall/winter campaign, "Get Lucky."
Once a day, players can place their name in a drawing to win "ALDO shoes for life," -- and by life, I mean two pairs of shoes a year for 25 years. That's a lot of sole.
Players who win all three games played will receive a 15% off coupon at ALDO.
The site, created by SKINNY and B-Reel, showcases ALDO's fall/winter lineup of shoes by having players choose a lucky shoe prior to playing each game.
The first game, dubbed rockin' roulette, begins with three-conveyor-belts worth of men's and women's shoes. Selecting a favorite pair brings users to a roulette wheel, where numbers are replaced with shoe images and players are hoping to land on their pair of shoes.
The next game, spin and win, has users choose a pair of shoes from inside a slot machine. Once selected, the machine takes a spin and three matched pairs equals a win.
The final game is the magic hat trick, something I am terrible at playing, but ironically, it was the first game here that I won. A selected shoe is placed under one of three hats; following a quick hat shuffle, gamers must find their shoe.
"ALDO's Fall/Winter collection is full of shoes that just feel lucky, like good things are possible when you step out for a night on the town," said Jonas Hallberg, co-founder/co-chief creative officer at SKINNY. "Since we needed to show the collection and build on the Get Lucky theme, we came up with the idea of ALDO shoes for life, which is ALDO's way of giving the world a chance to get lucky and win shoes for life." The agency's biggest challenge: showcasing so many shoes while entertaining users and drumming up sales.
Actor Matthew Gray Gubler from "Criminal Minds" and model Lily Donaldson star in both ALDO's offline and online creative. The shoes for life contest ends in December, leaving shoe lovers plenty of time to win free shoes for life.

The games are ok in terms of product involvement. But, 2 pair of shoes a year are "shoes for life?" Something tells me Aldo buyers would disagree.
