Chicago-based Tribune Company says advertising revenues rose 5% last month, to $467 million, boosted by a 10% increase in broadcasting and entertainment group revenues. Its publishing division, led by
the Chicago Tribune and Los Angeles Times, posted a 3% increase in reenues to $353 million. Total advertising inches were up 3%, while preprint pieces grew 9%. National advertising in its print
division rose 13%, while classified dropped 2%. Tribune Interactive revenues grew 8% to $6.9 million in January. Separately, Tribune announced that its chief financial officer, Thomas Leach, is
expanding his responsibilities to include news and broadcast operations, effective immediately.
