Texas State Fair Picks Ford F-150 As Top Pickup Truck

  • October 24, 2011

Cars.com and Pickuptrucks.com report that the Ford F-150 has been named the 2011 "Truck of the Fair" at the State Fair of Texas. You might be thinking, "So what? It's a frigging state fair. Who cares?"

No, it's not just a state fair, it's the State Fair of Texas. And you could probably fit most of Delaware within the perimeter of the fairgrounds. But it's also Texas, which is the truck capital of this side of the universe. One of six pickups in the U.S. lives in Texas.

Trucks are rivaled only by football and border fences in importance there. At the fair, visitors could vote by digital device on their favorite truck via  text message.

Said Mark Williams, PickupTrucks.com editor. "So when the Ford F-150 is declared Truck of the Fair, you know it is coming from a trusted group of passionate pickup truck owners."

Three trucks had top votes for the duration of the fair: The Chevy Silverado 1500, Ford F-150 and Nissan Titan. This is Ford's third "Truck of the Fair" win and second for the F-150. Last year, the F-350 Lariat was the fan favorite.
