Younger Affluents Drive Daily Deal Sites

The popularity of daily deal websites is limited to younger and more affluent consumers, according to a survey released Monday by global consulting firm Accenture.

The survey revealed that while 37% of Americans are members of a daily deal site, 56% of Americans never have subscribed to any such sites and 42% "do not like anything" about the sites. This indicates that "a significant group of Americans do not like the deals and are conceivably finding other ways to save," Tom Jacobson, a senior executive in pricing and profitability strategy at Accenture, said in a written release.
