Obituary: Daniel B. Burke

Daniel B. Burke, who served as president, CEO of Capital Cities/ABC, Inc. from 1990 until his retirement in 1994, died at his home on Oct. 26. He was 82. Burke also served as president and COO of the company from 1972.  Burke had a distinguished media career, spanning both TV and publishing. He served as president of Capital City's publishing division from 1969 to 1972. Following his retirement from Capital Cities/ABC in 1994, Burke created a minor league baseball franchise, the Sea Dogs, in Portland, Maine. He is survived by his wife and four children. Robert A. Iger, president/CEO, The Walt Disney Co., remembered Burke as "a gifted executive and natural teacher, and a man with a strong sense of right and wrong. Dan Burke led by example."
