GOP Launches Ad War

Republican candidates are unleashing TV ads in Iowa, New Hampshire and other early voting states intended to brand themselves and their rivals before the first ballots are cast in less than 10 weeks.

Texas Gov. Rick Perry is talking job creation. Rep. Ron Paul is in the middle of a two-week, $2 million ad blitz in Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina. Atlanta businessman Herman Cain released an online ad that features a top adviser smoking a cigarette. And the Democratic National Committee bought time in Arizona for a TV ad that targets former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, who has yet to air television ads this year.
