Cabela's Post Record Results; Same-store Sales Slip

  • October 28, 2011

Cabela’s says its third-quarter results hit a record, with revenues climbing 6.2% to $678.6 million, and net income jumping 65% to $35.6 million. Direct revenue, however, slipped 1.7% to $210.9 million, and comparable-store sales fell 1.6%.

The Sidney, Neb.-based outdoors chai, says its newer “next generation” stores continue to perform well -- some 30% better than legacy stores -- and that the decline in same-store results is partially due to its reduced promotional discounts. “Using each promotion dollar more effectively is critical over the long term to maximize our growth and profitability," it says in its release, adding that it plans to step up its expansion plans in 2013.
