WealthTV To Air, Stream King-Promoted Fights

WealthTV, the network in only 12 million homes, will make the series of Don King-promoted fights it’s carrying live Saturday available free either on TV or the Web. The network said the multichannel operators that offer the network, such as AT&T and Verizon FiOS, will make it available to all subscribers at no extra cost, while the four fights will also be streamed online.

The network won’t air ads in what is billed as “Viva Don King,” though King’s production company could insert some. The fight night is highlighted by a title bout featuring Guillermo "El Felino" Jones versus Mike Marrone.

The fights will also be streamed on WealthTV’s Web site. Robert Herring Sr., the network’s CEO, stated: "We're bringing boxing back to the masses like it used to be, without the need for boxing fans to pay the exorbitant fees associated with a pay-per-view event."

WealthTV is moving to gain distribution by offering customers the chance to receive the network’s programming for a fee of 99 cents a month or for $9.99 a year. There is also an option to watch the network’s programming in 3D.

Boxing is a new programming genre for the network, which an executive recently described as “a vicarious look at the American dream."

Among the network offerings are shows focusing on luxury travel, as well as high-end cars, motorcycles, art and boats.
