Christian Guinot has been appointed president of MEC China, a unit of WPP’s GroupM. He replaces Michelle Ko who recently stepped down after deciding to return to Hong Kong and rejoin training and development unit GroupM Aspire with responsibility for North Asia. Guinot will report to Stephen Li, MEC’s CEO Asia Pacific and Bessie Lee, CEO GroupM China. He will also be on MEC’s Asia Pacific Executive Committee. A 23-year media industry veteran, Guinot most recently was managing director of MEC Russia, since 2007. Previously, he was based at the agency’s London offices where he was managing partner in the Global Solutions team, running the Daimler Chrysler and Danone account across Europe. Prior to MEC, he worked for MPG and MediaCom and Euro RSCG.
