Knight Foundation Backs Brooklyn Site

A new nonprofit local news site, backed by the Knight Foundation, is live. The Brooklyn Bureau will focus on civic affairs and investigative reporting. The site focuses on gritty rather than trendy. Run by the nonprofit news organization City Limits, the Brooklyn Community Foundation and Knight Foundation are each providing $50,000 for the first two years. The Brooklyn Community Foundation is also financially supporting Brooklyn College’s Center for the Study of Brooklyn in its efforts to “analyze statistical data and develop neighborhood and borough-wide trend reports,” which will be posted to The Brooklyn Bureau.
