Out to Launch

Goodbye, Vampire Weekend and hello, Brakes. Tommy Hilfiger launched its holiday TV campaign today, called “Holiday Par-tay,” a follow-up to last year’s “Feast-us Interruptus.” The family remains the same, but the indie rock music used has changed.Gone is last year’s “Holiday” by Vampire Weekend, replaced with “All Night Disco Party” by Brakes. Unlike last year’s festivities, which took place outdoors, we’re invited inside the Hilfiger’s Casá Nobiliùs Maisõn-us for a holiday par-tay that involves a lot of plaid, a disco ball, shirtless men and cowbell (my favorite part). The carousing comes to an abrupt halt when the house loses power. It wasn’t a winter storm that caused the outage but the family’s adorable basset hound, pulling a plug. Macy'sRaging female teenage hormones are trapped inside grown men’s bodies in a TV ad for Macy’s Black Friday extravaganza. The ad takes the Bieber-fever craze, runs with it and nails it. “Screamers,” stars the Biebs en route to Macy’s for its Black Friday midnight opening. Biebs asks his driver a question… and he screams like a girl. Biebs asks two stockmen a question and they go nuts, screaming and jumping. My favorite part is when Bieber touches the arm of one employee, causing the man to scream, jump and touch the part of his arm that Bieber touched. Hysterical. The ad promotes Bieber’s limited-edition fragrance gift set, Someday. For every set sold, Macy’s will donate $2 to the Make-A-Wish foundation. See the ad here, created by JWT New York.

FiatIt’s sleek, sexy and seductive. Are we referring to the car or the woman? Fiat launched “Seduction,” an online video promoting the launch of its Fiat 500 Abarth. It’s early morning and a man, walking down the street with his latte in hand, checks out a woman who’s adjusting her shoe. She catches him doing so, slaps him across the face, and lays into him, in Italian. Next comes the emotional roller coaster of a man unable to think clearly, and a woman seducing him with latte foam. When he regains his composure, there’s no woman in sight, just a Fiat 500 Abarth that happens to be the same color as the woman’s dress. And her neck tattoo? It’s the car’s logo. “You’ll never forget the first time you see one,” closes the video, seen here, and created by The Richards Group.

HardeesHardee’s launched a TV spot promoting its hand-breaded buffalo chicken tenders. “Basketball” proves that not everything that’s handmade is better. A guy meets his friends for a game of hoops, wearing basketball shoes made from cardboard and bed springs. He attempts a shot and misses, prompting the voiceover to say: “Not everything made by hand is as good as Hand-Breaded Buffalo Chicken Tenders. And that’s just the way it is.” Watch it here, created by David&Goliath.

Users can browse catalogs, sorting by the type of item desired, like women’s shoes. All shoes from all catalogs are viewed at once, and purchases can be made from inside the app, created by Appency. Prepping for Black Friday, circulars from Toys R Us, BestBuy, Sears and others can be found in the app, available for free in the App Store.
