TrueCar.com Gets Into Women's Auto Racing

  • December 2, 2011

Online auto marketplace TrueCar, Inc. has launched a multi-year commitment to support top female race car drivers in premiere racing series, along with young rising stars across several developmental racing series, according to a company statement.

The women in TrueCar Racing's "Women Empowered" lineup are Shea Holbrook (Pirelli World Challenge Series); Ashley Freiberg (Star Mazda Series); Shannon McIntosh (USF2000 Series); Verena Mei (Rally America); and Emilee Tominovich (Pro SCCA Playboy MX-5 Cup Series.)

TrueCar says it is also getting ready to sponsor a driver to compete in the IndyCar Series, as well as a Baja 1000 team for 2012, which will be made up entirely of women drivers vying for a class championship. In addition, TrueCar will launch a new young driver development program at the karting level, and then provide support to top championship prospects as they progress through their racing careers from karting on up.

Michael Zimicki, a top driving coach, will be a key consultant on the TrueCar initiative. Marc Miller -- a top driver and driving coach, along with rally expert Tim O'Neil, and other coaches and advisors -- will come on board.
