Lifetime Television Teams Up Against Domestic Violence

  • April 21, 2003
Lifetime Television has joined forces with a coalition called The Times Square Project: Stop Violence Against Women. The coalition includes New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Liz Claiborne Inc., The NASDAQ, Reuters, singer Michael Bolton, former NFL quarterback Don McPherson and other anti-violence advocates. The yearlong public awareness initiative will employ prominent electronic signs throughout the Times Square Business Improvement District and around the world to help raise awareness of the importance of women and men joining together to stop violence against women. Beginning Friday and ending April 16, 2004, each week participating companies will highlight a non-profit organization and salute a woman and man working to stop the violence. Other companies that don't have access to electronic signs will be able to support the project by displaying a specially designed window poster noting involvement. Each Friday, Lifetime will air the salute, reaching women and families in more than 86 million homes around the country. Lifetimetv.com also will feature the salute, the biographies of those mentioned and information on how to get involved in The Times Square Project and the campaign to stop violence against women.
