Judge In Tribune Co. Bankruptcy Sets Late Date

Slowing down a case that the Tribune Co. had hoped to resolve within the next few months, a federal judge said he won't hold a hearing on plans to end the company's three-year bankruptcy until May at the earliest.

Tribune is the parent company of such newspapers as the Los Angeles Times and the Chicago Tribune, along with other media properties.

"The case could end 'very quickly' if the two sides resolve their differences, 'but the track record of this case suggests that won't happen,'" according to law professor Douglas Baird, as quoted in the L.A. Times.
