Macy's Untaps Its Ninth 'Go Red' Celebration

  • January 23, 2012

Macy’s is unveiling its ninth annual “Go Red” promotion, in what has become a signature cause-related program for the Cincinnati- based retailer.

As the founding national sponsor, Macy’s programs have generated more than $28 million in the fight against heart disease. This year, the chain is adding a Valentine's Day social media campaign, as well as a special Wear Red Sale shopping event, with "Go Red Dress" designs from Alfani, Charter Club and I-N-C in select stores and at macys.com.

And shoppers wearing anything red between Feb. 1 and Feb, 5 (even if it’s only lipstick) earn discounts between 10 and 20%. Other events include Red Dress Dash races, GoRed CONNECT events, and a Follow Your Heart and Share the Love promotion on Facebook and Twitter. For every virtual heart shared or tweeted, Macy’s will donate $2. All proceeds benefit the American Heart Association's Go Red For Women movement.--Sarah Mahoney
