In The Middle Of A Macro Shift

That’s where we are, according to Dave Ford, sales manager at Sharethrough, who shared this thought during the opening “Maximizing The Platform” panel on Day 2 of MediaPost’s Social Media Insider Summit in Key Largo.

While Ford’s revelation that we are reaching the end of the “interruptive” era of advertising, isn’t that insightful, but his description of where we are in the shift is kind of interesting. In the middle? I don’t know, but I agree that we are living through the greatest industrial revolution ever (at least since industries have existed), and personally, I don’t think you can say what point we are living in it, because I don’t think it’s ever going to stop. Digital technologies are going to continue to change, disrupt and revolutionize our industry – forever! It’s not going to stop. And the really important part about that, is our industry – media – is a proxy for every other industry, and maybe even, everything else in life.

So let me suggest that we amend Ford’s quip with one of my own. We are at the beginning of a meta shift in advertising – and anything and everything that can be advertised.
