UK's Largest Digital Radio Network Joins Switchover Body

Absolute Radio is now one of many big networks that sit on the board that includes founding shareholders the BBC, Global Radio, Bauer Media, GMG Radio and Arqiva. The network will also make a contribution to the board that is reflective of its share of commercial radio. Recent Rajar reports have shown that almost 30% of radio listeners are tuned in via a digital platform and it is suggested by Digital Radio UK that there are around 14.2 million digital listening devices in UK homes. Chief executive of Absolute Radio, Donnach O’Driscoll, commented on the importance of the timing: “We are joining the Digital Radio UK board at such an important time in the development of digital radio in the UK. It’s all about in-car digital progress now and we think this is the time for the radio industry to come together to further secure our digital future.”
