Networked Audio Shipments To Explode

  • March 15, 2012

Nearly two-thirds of tablet owners are using their devices to listen to music, which could lead to an increase in the availability and purchased of networked home audio products, according to Parks Associates.

According to the firm, by 2016 more than 90 million of audio units (including receivers, speaker docks, sound bars and home theater systems) will shop with networking ability, including DLNA and AirPlay.

“The continuing popularity of music services is pushing consumers to find new ways to enjoy their growing libraries of audio content,” said Kurt Scherf, VP, principal analyst, Parks Associates, in a release. “Consumers are using products such as smartphones and media tablets for music access and playback, and they want ways to distribute that content around the home. Networked audio products give them the ability to have a high-quality multiroom music experience.”
