NimbleCommerce Powers SweetJack Daily Deals

SweetJack, the daily deal service launched by Cumulus Media, the nation’s second largest broadcast radio group, has selected NimbleCommerce to power daily deals across all its station Web sites, as well as the radio station Web sites of Cumulus’ strategic partner, Clear Channel Entertainment and Media.

NimbleCommerce provides an e-commerce platform for group buying, online coupon redemption, merchandising and promotion, syndication, mobile support, email campaigns, and analytics and reporting.

Cumulus owns about 570 radio stations and associated Web sites in 120 markets across the U.S., while Clear Channel owns around 830 stations and associated Web sites, for a total of 1,400 stations across the U.S. -- around 10% of the national total, many of them located in top media markets. The partners are using their national broadcast radio reach to promote SweetJack through advertisements and DJ endorsements; both companies’ strong local ad sales presence, and existing relationships with local advertisers, gives them a leg up in the expanding daily deals marketplace.

For its part, NimbleCommerce has grown rapidly over the last year, with revenue increasing eight-fold according to the company, and the total volume of deals reaching anannualized rate of $160 million. NimbleCommerce also powers daily deals for Digital First Media, which manages newspaper publishers MediaNews Group and Journal Register Co.

Total revenue from daily deal sites, including industry leaders like Groupon and LivingSocial, reached about $2.7 billion in 2011, with Groupon alone taking in $1.6 billion (despite continuing losses). Various forecasts have pegged the daily deal marketplace at anywhere from $4 billion-$6 billion by 2015.
