ABC Still Tops With 'Once," 'Desperate Housewives'

Once-Upon-A-TimeBig entertainment awards events can still produce for networks -- even at lower viewing levels.

"The Academy of Country Music Awards" helped put CBS on top for Sunday. The awards show scored a Nielsen preliminary 3.1 rating/8 share among 18-49 viewers, down a bit versus a year ago and its lowest numbers in four years.

Overall for the night, CBS averaged a 2.6/7. ABC was next with a 2.1/6, followed by Fox at a 1.7/5, NBC at 1.6/4, and Univision with a 1.1/3.

ABC's "Once Upon A Time" continues to be the top-rated regular-season scripted show of the night, a 2.7/8 -- although down to a season low. Right behind "Once" is former Sunday TV star "Desperate Housewives," which continued its steady pace over the last few weeks, now at a 2.6/6.

ABC's new midseason show "GCB," at 10 p.m. -- down to a somewhat respectable 1.9/5 -- was at a season low.

Fox also witnessed season lows: "Bob's Burgers" dropped 20% to a 1.6/4. "Family Guy" still remained Fox's big hitter on the night. It was down over 10% to a 2.5/6. "American Dad" remained the same at a 2.0/5.

NBC continues to produce steady numbers from "Celebrity Apprentice," which averaged a 1.8/5 for a three-hour, 8-11 p.m. episode, with the 10 p.m. hour peaking at a 2.0/5. "Celebrity" was about the same versus a week ago. But versus its two-hour version a week ago, it was up one-tenth of a rating point to a 1.9/5 when looking at its 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. time period.
