Pinterest's Data Center Use Reveals Marketing Jewels

Marketers need to pay more attention to techie things like data center fluctuations during the day. The storage sysetm for the 410 terabytes of pictures in the cloud can provide lots of insights for ad targeting once Pinterest develops an ad model. Timothy Morgan describes the storage supporting Pinterest, the online pinboard for organizing snapshots. At the AWS Summit in New York, Ryan Park, operations and infrastructure lead at Pinterest, shared insights into Pinterest's data center, which runs on the AWS cloud. Morgan describes Pinterest's application stack, which supports five basic pieces. He also highlights Web server costs and how they scale each day, giving marketers insight into the times the site is used the most.
