After sifting through entries from more than 4,000 inventors, entrepreneurs and small businesses, Walmart says it has chosen three winners in its “Get on the Shelf” contest. More than 1 million people voted on the finalists, handing the grand prize to HumanKind Water, which gives 100% of net profits to clean water initiatives worldwide. PlateTopper, a kitchen product that transforms dinner plates into airtight food storage containers, came in second. And third place went to SnapIt Eyeglass Repair Kit, a screw kit to fix glasses in 30 seconds. Plans call for all three to be sold on walmart.com, with HumanKind Water on shelves in select Walmarts.
