The Journal Register Company, which consists of five daily newspapers with total daily circulation of approximately 70,000 and 24 non-daily publications with total distribution of approximately
290,000, has acquired the 13,500-circulation North Attleborough Free Press. According to a company press release, the deal expands the Journal Register's New England presence and gives the Free Press
more resources with which to work. "Our ability to draw upon Journal Register's resources and experience will enable us to accelerate the expansion of The Free Press in North Attleboro and surrounding
areas," said Douglas Reed, founder, editor and publisher of The Free Press, in the release.
