Americans Are Auto-Patriotic Around July 4
Americans are especially patriotic around the Fourth of July, but who knew it extended to cars and trucks? Well, according to data from TrueCar.com, the most popular cars purchased around the Fourth of July last year were either American brands or assembled in the USA. Nine of the top ten cars are currently assembled in the USA and only the Chevrolet Equinox is not currently assembled in the USA, but expected to be assembled in Spring Hill, Tenn. during the second half of 2012.
“Last year around the Fourth of July the American new car buyer chose to purchase vehicles that were built in the USA or had an American nameplate,” said Kristen Andersson, Senior Analyst atTrueCar.com. "Made in the USA is a strong statement that resonates with consumers as evidenced by the vehicles most purchased around the 4th of July holiday. Due to the massive product improvements over the last few years by the domestic automakers, it is no longer a coincidence that American buyers would gravitate towards these vehicles. Some of this could be a result of the lack of inventory from the Japanese earthquake, but the data shows that American car buyers are open to buying a car made in the USA.”
The top 10 cars purchased were the Chevrolet Silverado, Chevrolet Cruze Nissan Altima, Ram 1500, Chevrolet Equinox, Ford F-150, Chevrolet Malibu, Toyota Camry, Jeep Grand Cherokee, and Ford Escape.
