The average Twitter user has maybe a few hundred followers. Active, informative users might have thousands. Then there are celebrity Twitter users, who easily rack up millions of followers. Ever wonder how it would feel knowing that millions of followers are anxiously waiting to read your next tweet?
You have a chance at hitting the Twitter lottery and amassing one million Twitter followers. The Martin Agency launched Twitterich on Friday as a social experiment. The company will give away a million followers to a randomly chosen follower, once (if?) it reaches the one-million mark.
As of this morning, the number of Twitterich followers was 4,30l. That’s a long way from one million.
The agency has “a selection algorithm that randomly chooses one of the followers so that no human bias is
involved,” said Neel Williams, copywriter at The Martin Agency.
To join in on the opportunity to win one million followers, or vastly increase their social media health, users can follow Twiiterich’s handle, @1MillionRicher.
As a social experiment, Twitterich has no client or third party feedback involved; it’s more of a wait
and see what happens project. It’s similar to the Carmichael
Collective, a series of creative ideas by Carmichael Lynch employees made solely for creativity’s sake.
Not surprisingly, The Martin Agency is predominantly using social media to promote Twitterich, which Williams hopes “reaches 1,000,000 followers before the Mayan calendar ends and we all perish.”
