Most Coupon Searches Are By Store, Not Brand

  • July 5, 2012

Coupon search engine ShopAtHome.com reports that 62% of consumers searching for coupons on the site search by store, 24% search by type of product, and just 14% search by product brand. The site's first "Buy-havior Report" summarizes users' behaviors during June 2012. Each month, nearly 12 million consumers use the site, which offers cash-back incentives in addition to manufacturers' coupons.

Other findings:

*Most-searched store/retailer: Walmart (followed by Kohl's and Target).

*Most-searched product: toilet paper (followed by laundry detergent). Half of the top 10 searched terms were for consumable goods like toilet paper, laundry detergent, coffee and butter.

*Most-searched brand: Sony (which was searched three times more than the next most-searched brand, Swiffer).

*73% of consumers used the site between 7:00 am and 6 p.m., regardless of the day of the week.
