Google Video to Close By End of Summer

Google Video, the online video service that predates Google’s acquisition of YouTube, is finally going away as Google cleans house of several products and services that it no longer wants to support.

As Fierce Online Video points out, it’s not a sudden death, at all. Google Video stopped accepting new video clips in May 2009. By the end of the summer, everything will move to YouTube as Google Video users have been given an Aug. 20 deadline to delete or transfer their clips to another location.

Google Video is one of about 30 products that the search giant is closing, including iGoogle, Google’s personalized homepage service, which will be turned off in November 2013.
