Vermont Invites Residents To Tweet On Its Behalf
Vermont is enlisting its residents to help with social media efforts on behalf of the state.
Residents can apply at http://www.thisisvt.com/nominate/ to be chosen to send messages via the Twitter account @ThisIsVT.
Steve Cook, deputy director of the Vermont Department of Tourism, which is organizing the campaign, says the campaign is anotehr say to generate "peer reviews" about the state.
The campaign is modeled after similar ones in Europe. The Swedish government has been handing over the @sweden Twitter account to a different citizen each week.
Vermont Tourism Communications Director Jen Butson says the state is implementing a thorough application process to throughly screen the residents before they are chosen to tweet for the state.--Tanya Irwin
