  • July 30, 2012

AT&T is making it easier to understand the environmental impact of the handsets consumer are considering buying. Beginning Monday, AT&T's eco-ratings, which the company debuted at the Mobile World Congress earlier this year, will be available in-store via an easy-to-understand label and rating.

The company's eco-rating system assesses 15 criteria from five sustainable attribute categories, such as using environmentally preferable materials, minimizing the use of hazardous substances and engery efficiency.

"AT&T's eco-ratings give consumers product information they want," said Jeff Bradley, senior vice president, Devices, AT&T Mobility, in a release. "Consumers want the best and fastest devices while being able to make an empowered choice about environmental impacts of the device. Our eco-ratings accomplish just that."
