Alcohol Brands' Facebook Engagement Grows
Facebook engagement for 15 major alcohol brands increased between January and July 2012, according to data from social media measurement company Simply Measured, which also ranked the brands by total Facebook engagement as of July.
For example, Heineken, which was #1 in engagement as of July, saw its average engagement per post (including "likes") grow from 3,520 in January to 8,459 in July, reports eMarketer. Jack Daniel’s Whiskey, Bud Light, Coors Light, Smirnoff US and Yellow Tail also saw increased engagement during the period. Budweiser, Hennessy and Absolut saw declines.
eMarketer notes that the engagement gains for most of the alcohol brands is interesting, given that overall engagement results have been mixed since Facebook's Timeline debuted in February. EdgeRank Checker found that, as of March, 41% of Facebook pages that had converted to Timeline saw increased engagement with their pages, but 38% of non-converted pages also saw increased engagement.
