TBS Superstation, a cable network that some still associate with shows like "Andy Griffith," has landed the exclusive off-network rights to sister pay network HBO's steamy "Sex and the City," which will air as a weekly primetime show on the Turner network begging in June 2004. The deal gives Turner a 15-month exclusive window on the series before it goes into syndication on broadcast stations. "There is an enormous, untapped audience out there that has never seen "Sex and the City," which makes it completely new to more than half our audience," Steve Koonin, executive vice president and chief operating officer, TBS Superstation and Turner Network Television. "Combining the near 100-percent awareness among our targeted young adult demographic for "Sex and the City" and the promotional platform afforded the network with its other top comedies, we have the makings of another bankable hit for TBS Superstation."
