The flying experience will be getting somewhat less heinous -- for some travelers, at least -- thanks to a new digital place-based media offering from Clear Channel Airports. The product, ClearVision, allows travelers to choose video content from a variety of publishers for consumption on their mobile devices via airport-based WiFi as well as via place-based TV networks in airports. ClearVision content -- entertainment, news, music, and sports programming -- comes from over 100 providers, including CBS, NBC, The Wall Street Journal (WSJ Live), and the Tennis Channel, as well as local TV stations, allowing travelers to access local news and weather. ClearVision, which was created by CCA in collaboration with connectiVision Digital Networks, will debut at the Raleigh-Durham International Airport this fall. Advertising will include promotions from airport retailers and restaurants; content acquisition and licensing will be managed by connectiVision. Meanwhile RMG Networks announced a deal with GoGo, which provides Wi-Fi access to travelers on airplanes, making RMG the exclusive advertising sales representative for all media assets on the Gogo network. The GoGo ad sales deal complements RMG’s other air travel-related media channels, which include various kinds of media in 100 airport executive lounges and over 110,000 in-flight seatback television screens, with passenger Internet service aboard some 1,500 planes owned by Delta, United, American, Virgin America, AirTran, and US Airways.
