Facebook Brands Can Buy Promoted Posts Via Mobile
Brands on Facebook now have the ability to buy promoted posts via mobile as well as on the desktop. Introduced in May, the ad option allows Facebook page administrators to boost exposure for their posts beyond the normal reach they get in fans’ news feeds -- and without having to go through a separate ad dashboard.
Promoted posts are available to any page with more than 400 fans and any kind of post can be promoted including status updates, photos, offers, videos and questions. A new version of Facebook’s Pages Manager app that will let businesses buy promoted posts on-the-go directly from their mobile phones. Facebook said the move came in response to requests for the feature from small businesses.
Companies have been able to run promoted posts in the both the desktop and mobile news feeds since launch four months ago. Facebook last week also ended its Reach Generator program—allowing premium advertisers to pay Facebook to sponsor their page posts and guarantee 75% reach of a brand’s fan base--in favor of promoted posts.
A Facebook spokesperson told Inside Facebook the step would give businesses increased flexibility to hand-pick and boost posts in the news feed. Promoted posts also aren’t limited to premium advertisers.
