'Boston Globe' Site Teams With MIT
The Boston Globe will partner with MIT’s Center for Civic Media to develop new ideas for the newspaper’s Boston.com and BostonGlobe.com sites. Set to launch this fall, the Globe/MIT collaboration is intended to serve as model of how media organizations can work more closely with university thinkers.
The project is funded with $250,000 from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. It will be overseen by Jeff Moriarty, vice president of digital initiatives at the Globe; Chris Marstall, creative technologist for the Globe, and Ethan Zuckerman, director of the MIT Center for Civic Media.
"We see great promise in building strong bridges between these institutions. The collaboration with MIT is an important, exciting step forward, but over time we envision a broad array of relationships with universities,” said Globe Editor Martin Baron, in the announcement Friday.
The Boston Globe is part of The New York Times Company’s News Media Group, which also includes The New York Times and The International Herald Tribune.
